If you’re looking for one of the best tactical backpacks, the Kelty Redwing 44 is the one for you. I spent a lot of time trying to research reviews for this top-rated backpack and it wasn’t easy.
As many of you already know, my husband and I have been on the quest for our fantasy (dream) backpack. For me, that backpack is a replacement for our Kelty Redwing 44.
I’ll be honest, it’s not perfect. It doesn’t have every feature that I want and some features are kind of lacking. But this is what makes this pack awesome.
It has tons of space and can be modded very easily to fit different needs from packing light for trail running to stuffing the bag full for adventures on the Appalachian Trail (we did both last year), or for carrying everything we need for an overnight trip into the backwoods in Montana where civilization may be days away
I’m always on the lookout for the best gear. I really have a hard time spending my money on anything, but when it comes to things like backpacks, tents, and other outdoor gear; I don’t think twice about forking over the cash. Thus, I was pretty excited when I found out that I could review the Kelty Redwing 44 hiking backpack.
The Kelty Redwing is a pretty awesome backpack that falls under the category of a tactical backpack. It’s perfect for hiking, camping, and traveling because it has plenty of space for clothes, ropes, and a sleeping bag.
If you’ve ever been out on the trail, you probably already know how important a good backpack can be. Every hiking or camping trip is a new experience, every campsite is unique, and there’s no single backpack that fits all occasions.
That’s why there are so many different options for choosing your backpack. Even if you have a well-fitted backpack at home, it might not fit your needs on the trail.
You need to be prepared for whatever comes your way, whether it’s spring or winter, cold or hot weather, or even hard rain.
Kelty Redwing 44 Tactical Review
The Kelty Redwing 44 Tactical is a large, heavy-duty backpack that is ideal for anyone who has to carry a lot of gear and equipment. This pack has enough room for everything you need to take on an extended hike or camping trip, with plenty of pockets and pouches to keep your gear organized.
The bag is made from 210 denier nylon with a TPU laminate and a polyurethane coating, which makes the material water resistant. The exterior fabric is coated with polyurethane which makes it waterproof and stain resistant.
The bag has a top loading design with an optional “rolltop” closure system that can be used to customize the amount of space you have to store gear in it. The rolltop can be rolled down tightly so that you can fit a lot, or only partially so that you have more room for other things.
I’ve been a fan of Kelty packs for a couple of years, and the Redwing 44 Tactical is by far my favorite. The pack itself is made of triple-stitched tactical nylon (1000D), which gives it its ruggedness, durability, and water resistance. I can be rough on my gear, so the Redwing has been through a lot and has held up beautifully.
The top compartment is ideal for your sleeping bag or clothes that you want to keep separate. It closes with a drawstring and opens from the front, which allows you to open it completely without taking off your pack.
The main compartment is roomy enough for all your gear and has a divider that you can remove if you need more space. The compression straps on the side are great for securing awkwardly shaped items or keeping everything stable in transit.
There’s even an internal pocket above the main compartment that can hold folded clothing or documents.
On top of all this, there are two side pockets that will hold 1-liter water bottles or anything else you need to get to quickly. One thing I like about these pockets is that they’re stretchy enough to fit a 1-liter bottle with no issues, but they close securely so nothing falls out while moving around.
Kelty Redwing 44 Tactical Price
The average price for the Kelty Redwing 44 tactical price is $140. Some stores can sell it as low as $130 or above. Kelty products are designed for a purpose and have proven to last longer than any.
