How Many Blocks Are There In 1 Square Meter (1m²)

For most builders and contractor or clients, the most challenging problem is being able to know how many block there are in 1 square meter.

So If i were to charge a client per square meter in bricklaying, how many blocks actually make a square meter or 1m²?

In order to be able to determine the number if blocks needed for every 1m², we have to be able to calculate the area of the surface area of one block.

How Many Blocks Are there in one Square meter?

Nigerian blocks have length of 1.6 ft. The height is actually 9 inches…
Now let’s convert these to the S.I unit (meters)

1.6 ft = 45.72cm
9 inches = 22.86cm

Now let’s convert from cm to meter by dividing by 100

45.72/100 = 0.4572m
22.86/100 = 0.2286m

What is the Area Of a 9 inch Block?

We simply multiply the length by the height to get the area.

Area = 0.4572 x 0.2286 = 0.1045

Now we want to lay blocks on 1m²

So we divide 1m² by 0.1045 to get the number of blocks

1/0.1045 = 9.6 blocks

Therefore, in every 1 square meter, we have a total of 9.5 blocks or 10 blocks but as you know, we would need to leave some space for bonding..

Therefore, let’s assume we leave the space for half block as space for bonding.

Now you know the number of blocks required to fill one square meter space when constructing walls with Flemish and English bonds.

what is the meaning of one square meter?

In order to fully understand the meaning of a square meter, I’ll require you hold a tape measure and mark out 1 meter on the ground.

Mark another 1 meter such that both intersect at the edges. Now close the other edges!

Please try to share with others in order to help them get enlightened too
